More details!!!!!

I just got an e-mail from Nathan, our trip leader, this morning. It has some more specific details on what we will be doing in Bolivia, so for those of you who have been wondering about specifics, here are some :)

~Jasmine~

Hi Jasmine,

I hope you are enjoying the New Year!

Justin Eller from the ELCA will be finalizing our schedule for us in the near future.  In the mean time, I do know that we'll be attending a youth gathering for the Bolivian Lutheran Church for part of the time we're traveling.  We will also spend time meeting pastors and congregation members to learn more about Bolivian culture and the relationship we have as the Montana Synod with the Bolivian Lutheran Church.  We will be staying at a seminary in La Paz and do day trips from the seminary as our "home base."  As soon as I get the schedule from Justin I'll be sure to pass it along to you.

I'm getting excited for this trip!  How about you?

Trip Description and Stuff :)

A lot of people have been asking me exactly what I will be doing in Bolivia when I go there. Up until now, I haven't been able to give a very clear answer, because I didn't really know. But this morning, the FLBC Summer 2014 brochure came in the mail, and a description of the trip is in there, so hopefully this will provide some clarification :) Also, I found out that the exact cost is going to be $2, 650.00, so yay for an exact number, I know now what I have to work towards :) Here is the FLBC brochure description of our trip:

Young Adult Trip to Bolivia July 17-26
FLBC and the Montana Synod, ELCA invite you to be part of an unforgettable visit with our
companion synod in Bolivia, July 17-26, 2014. Young adults 18-25 years of age are welcome to

which will give participants a unique opportunity to accompany Bolivian youth through cultural immersion. The ability to read and
speak Spanish is desired, but not required. The group will be led by Rev. Nathan Clements, Associate Director at FLBC, and coordinated
by Rev. Justin Eller, ELCA Regional Representative in Southern South America. Cost is $2650. If you are interested, have questions,
or would like more information, contact Nathan by calling the office at 406-752-6602. The trip is limited to 10 participants, so

LETTERS!!!!

So, I have sent out letters explaining what this trip to Bolivia that I'm going on is all about, and in my letter I have also explained the many and varied ways that you can support me on this adventure :) I am going to start fundraising in January, and I will have a list of the different fundraisers that I'm planning on here soon.

Preparations for the Adventure.... :)

So a few weeks ago, my grandma came home, and she said to me, "Nathan (Nathan Clements, the new Associate Director at Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp) is putting together a trip of ten 18 to 25 year olds to go to Bolivia next summer. You should e-mail him." I had met Nathan a couple of weeks before this, I was in Helena for a convention and he was there for some other thing, he was leaving as I was arriving, and my grandma had met him before and introduced us. So I kind of mulled over this information for a couple of days, trying to decide if it was something I should do at this point in my life, but then I said to myself, "Jasmine, you're going to be 25 years old in December, you've never done anything like this before, you've never gone out of the country without any of your family members, and when are you ever going to get this opportunity again? It's time for you to have an adventure." So I thought about it for a couple of days, but I e-mailed Nathan, and a couple days later I heard back from Nathan and I am officially part of the group. I don't know all of the details yet, Nathan said he would let me know details when he knows them, but I do know that Nathan is leading the trip, Justin Eller, the ELCA Regional Representative in Southern South America, is coordinating the trip, and he and his wife are actually missionaries that the church that I belong to supports, and I met him once when he came for a visit. I don't know an exact cost yet, but the brochure that Nathan sent me says that the estimated cost will be between $2,250.00 and $2,500.00. I don't exactly have that kind of money just lying around, so I will be having a whole bunch of fundraisers between now and July so that I can raise enough money to go on this trip. I will be sending out a mass letter hopefully soon after the first of the year, so if you want me to have your address please send me an e-mail at jazzy_1988@hotmail.com, or message me on Facebook, or text me or call me at 406-283-1397. I will be updating this blog as I find out new information, so follow it if you'd like, and I will also be updating it while in Bolivia as long as I have internet access down there. I'm currently working on getting my passport and I am busy with another project which will keep me busy until pretty close to the end of this year, and then Advent is coming up, and Christmas, and my 25th birthday is also just a few weeks away, so the first fundraiser probably won't be until early January, but I will keep you posted. I also have a bank account set up for the money I raise towards the trip, and I am accepting donations, and my address is
